How Popular Is Your Site? Find Out With This Link Popularity Checker

This script comes from the fine folks over at Site Expert. (Oooooo, they even have a color chart.) Using this tool, you can check to see how many indexed backlinks lead to your site in such search engines as Google, Yahoo, Bing, and a number of others. The cool thing about the tool is that is actually gives you the numbers on the result page.  Some link popularity checkers only give you the links to the search engines themselves or make you jump through hoops to get the report.  This tool actually shows you the number of indexed links back. So tell me how it works.  Feel free to brag about your link popularity numbers in the comments if you want. Link Popularity Checker Don’t forget out the other tools such as our Youtube Video Downloader, the Whois lookup and the new DailyMotion Video Downloader. Comment #600 And Then Some

Comment #600 goes to Magerine2 on the 50 Things NOT to do at Hogwarts post.  I missed Comment #500 in there somewhere but it;s been awhile since we hit #400.  We already have comment #601 with my follow up on the post. Most commented post has got to be the one about How to Solve “Invalid Update Control CTF File” Errors on AVG with 140 of them currently.  Someone asked recently so I looked around. I still have a ways until I change the subtitle.  Only at 1,430 posts.  I’m working on it...

Moved the Feeds Over to Feedburner

Yup, still working on changes.  There’s more coming shortly as well.  I’ve gone ahead and fixed the lists in the footer that list the latest posts as well as comments.  I’ve also added in the updated list of most read posts for 2008. If you’re reading this post via RSS, you may have noted that there’s a new URL. (Don’t worry.  The old URLs will redirect to the new one.) I’ve gone ahead and moved the RSS Feeds over to Feedburner.  I’ve done this so I can also offer subscriptions to my feeds via email as well.  Plus I can keep better track of how many folks read my site every day.  Last time I looked, the main RSS feed was getting accessed over 700 times every day. As I noted, there’s no need to change your RSS reader as the old URLs redirect to the new one.  But if you want to go ahead and make the change, the new URL is: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/DrMikesSteakDinner.  If you want to get emails when I make new posts, there’s a subscription box to the left in the sidebar.  It’ll give you a nasty looking Captcha that you have to figure out (Took me a couple of tries when I subscribed.) but the option is now available. If you have any problems, feel free to add your comment to this post or drop me an email. edit: Per a request, we now also have a Feed for...

My First Project Wonderful Banner

I’ve been reading VR Comic for quite some time now.(Although I can’t find the blog post I made about them.  Oh well.) I noticed that they’ve added in Project Wonderful advertising to their site.  I’ve had Project Wonderful advertising on my own blog as well as the Youtube Downloader for quite some time now and have built up some funds to waste.  I’d thought I would give advertsing a try and see if it helps.  It’s not really an advertising banner.  It really there to 1) test the Project Wonderful system and 2) to say thanks for the comic. edit: I want to add the advertising to the Devana game as well.  I have to do that sometime soon. reedit: I’ve now done this for a couple of webcomics that I read.  Since I don’t have a whole lot of money, at the very least I can support them via this...

Anyone remember this book about blogging?

I thought I talked about it once.  I had a digital copy of it but I can’t find it.  It was like a 100 ways to be a better blogger type work with each page on a different topic.  The first one was about not blogging about your everyday life. (ie “I got up in the morning, had breakfast, etc.”) Does this ring a bell with anyone? It’s bugging me that I can’t find it. Image from...

Looking back at January

Breakfast was cool.  Had eggs, bacon, and biscuits.  I think I was the only non-church person there so i had to introduce myself a number of times but I didn’t mind.  I walk by the church twice every day when I head over to UNCC.  Didn’t get any pictures as my batteries died with the other breakfast this morning under the bridge. I finally got a chance to look over the most read posts for January.  I probably should do some sort of Top Post widget in the sidebar. (edit: Done now.) – Download Dragon Magazine and it’s Part #2 article. – Mac Desktop Wallpapers – 50 Things NOT to do at Hogwarts (And I feel bad about that as it’s not even mine.) – Robot Chicken: Charlie Brown And The Great Pumpkin – Download Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? (You can but not with those links.) – Family Guy Videos – Rock Lobster – Movable Type 4.1 gets released (*shrug* All I said was that it was released.) – Crash on Volturnus – Chapter 1 (I really should go back and work on that. I liked writing that stuff.) – Pairings (Another old Daria fanfiction piece that I had written way back when.) – How to stop the irritating “Updating your computer is almost complete – Restart Now?”...
